What is a "Green Culinary Ratio"?
Winston Industries is committed to conducting operations with a strong green policy always in mind. Its basis is food equipment that cooks or holds to health and quality standards at reduced energy consumption. It's referred to as the Green Culinary Ratio (GCR).

Cooking Equipment
GCR = Beginning Test Load wt. (lb.) * .8 * (Avg. Test Load temp. incr.) / 1,000 BTUs

Holding Equipment:
GCR = Average power (watts) per pound of food to maintain test load at 145-155°F for 1 hour

How is Winston equipment Green?
Winston equipment, featuring Controlled Vapor (CVap®) Technology, makes it possible to produce more food using less energy than competitors’ cabinets, thereby conserving resources. Energy usage is not the only resource conserved by Winston equipment - food, nutrition, and labor is also conserved.

How does my current equipment rate?
Every manufacturer should have a greater awareness of their products' impact on the Earth's resources. If you don't use Winston equipment, ask your suppliers how they measure sustainability. Our GCR Standard Testing Procedure is available online.
